ChineseinUS
ChineseinUS is a multimedia organization founded in 2020 by Orange International Media Inc., headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dedicated to fostering connections between the Chinese American community and mainstream American society, ChineseinUS provides news coverage, community engagement, and cultural exchange programs to enhance the social participation and sense of belonging among Chinese Americans.
History
ChineseinUS originated from the WeChat public account “Chinese in US-PHL”, which was established in 2019 to address the information gap between the Chinese community and mainstream society during the promotion of the 2020 Census. In 2020, ChineseinUS was officially founded and has since grown into one of the most influential Asian media organizations in Pennsylvania.

- Election Coverage and Civic Engagement
- ChineseinUS is the only Asian media outlet in Pennsylvania that consistently covers all candidates on the Philadelphia ballot.
- In 2020, ChineseinUS hosted the first election-related lecture for the Chinese community in Pennsylvania, titled “Seeing Through the Fog of War: An In-Depth Analysis of the 2020 Election in Pennsylvania”, in collaboration with Chinese for Affirmative Action and AAU.
- In 2023, ChineseinUS organized the first Chinese-language candidate meet-and-greet event in Pennsylvania.
- In 2024, ChineseinUS became the only Asian media outlet to provide on-site coverage of the presidential election in Chinese.
2. Community Support During COVID-19
- In 2020, ChineseinUS partnered with the City of Philadelphia to organize online COVID-19 Community Response Captains training sessions, with a total of 1,124 participants citywide. The sessions were conducted in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and Korean. Our exclusive collaboration with the city government attracted 274 participants, while partnerships with other Chinese organizations brought in over 240 additional attendees. Combined, our direct and indirect involvement in Chinese-language sessions accounted for approximately 50% of the total participation in Philadelphia.
- In 2021, ChineseinUS created the only Chinese-language COVID-19 website in Pennsylvania, providing pandemic data and vaccine information.
- ChineseinUS also organized multiple vaccination events, helping thousands of community members receive COVID-19 vaccines.
3. Community Events and Social Justice
- ChineseinUS participated in and reported on several anti-Asian hate rallies, including vigils for the Atlanta shooting victims and Anti-Asian Hate Rally.
- ChineseinUS was the only Chinese media outlet to provide on-site coverage of the 76ers Arena Proposal and successfully collaborated with the community to halt the project.
4. Government Affairs and Community Bridging
- ChineseinUS maintains strong partnerships with government agencies, advocating for the needs of the Chinese American community.
- In 2022, ChineseinUS collaborated with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to host the first Chinese-language tax seminar.

- Based on data from the 2020 Census, ChineseinUS successfully advocated for the addition of Chinese language options on Pennsylvania ballots.
- ChineseinUS is the only Asian media outlet in Pennsylvania to conduct video interviews with all major candidates on the Philadelphia ballot.
- Through exclusive reporting and rapid response, ChineseinUS ensured that the community received critical information during crises, such as the Philadelphia water contamination incident.

ChineseinUS envisions a future where historical information disparities are eliminated, and communities are empowered through access to resources. Our mission is to deliver mainstream news, bridge information gaps, and promote civic engagement, enabling the Chinese American community to fully participate in all aspects of American life.
