International Leadership Foundation Announces Asian American the 2024 Summer Civic Fellowship Program

The International Leadership Foundation (ILF) announced today that their flagship initiative, the ILF Civic Fellowship Program, is now accepting applications for its Summer 2024 cohort. This program is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in public service from the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, emphasizing their role in politics, policy-making, and public service. The deadline for applications is January 5, 2024.

Since its inception in 2000, ILF has provided scholarships and leadership training to over 10,000 Asian American and Pacific Islander students, committed to fostering emerging leaders in the public, business, and nonprofit sectors. The ILF Civic Fellowship Program offers undergraduate students an 8 to 10-week internship at federal agencies or congressional offices, combined with individual mentorship, seminars, and workshops, aimed at strengthening policy interests, enhancing leadership potential, and understanding how government can serve their communities.

ILF has successfully placed interns in the U.S. Department of Treasury, USAID, Minority Business Development Agency, EXIM Bank, National Institutes of Health, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Labor, Small Business Administration, Hudson Institute, and various Congressional and Senate offices.

ILF emphasizes that while the internships are primarily based in Washington, D.C., some or most of the internships may be virtual, depending on the policies of each federal agency. ILF will keep applicants informed throughout the application and placement process.

This program not only offers Asian American youth a valuable opportunity to understand and engage in the American political process but also serves as a crucial pathway for them to integrate into mainstream society and exert influence. ILF encourages more Asian American youth to join this program, to collectively advance the civic awareness, public service, and economic effectiveness of the AAPI community.
