Philadelphia – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will attend the APIAVote 2024 Presidential TownHall in Philadelphia on July 13. This marks her sixth visit to the state this year and 16th since taking office. The event is part of the Biden-Harris campaign’s effort to mobilize AAPI voters and community leaders nationwide.
The APIAVote event, anticipated to draw a crowd of 1,800 at the Philadelphia Convention Center, is a key part of the Biden-Harris campaign’s strategy to engage AAPI voters. APIAVote is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing voter registration and turnout among the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
The Biden-Harris campaign plans to utilize culturally appropriate and linguistically suitable resources, employing relational organizing techniques to train supporters, combat misinformation, and highlight the administration’s achievements. This campaign will focus on battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia.
Harris’s visit comes at a critical time as President Joe Biden faces calls to withdraw from the race against former President Donald Trump, following his poor debate performance last month. Many in the Democratic Party argue that Harris would be a more competitive candidate should Biden drop out, positioning her as the front-runner to replace him on the Democratic ticket. Despite the pressure, Harris has firmly supported Biden.
In addition to the 2024 Presidential TownHall, the APIAVote event will serve as the culminating moment of a two-day National AAPI Leadership Summit, held at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown on July 11-12. Registration for the event is still open to the public.

This summit will equip attendees with the knowledge and connections to mobilize AAPI communities nationwide for the 2024 elections.
APIAVote has also extended an invitation to Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump, who is scheduled to hold a campaign event in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on the same day. As of now, there is no confirmation from former President Trump regarding his participation in the townhall.
The APIAVote Presidential TownHall continues to be a crucial forum for presidential candidates to engage directly with the AAPI community, ensuring that their concerns and priorities are addressed during the campaign. The successful hosting of this event is anticipated to further encourage active participation from AAPI voters, laying the groundwork for the upcoming election.
